American Trust & Banking Co. Depression Scrip
One dollar design American Trust and Banking Company ordered $150,000 in depression scrip; $35,000 in $1 scrip, $75,000 in $5 scrip and $40,000 in $10 scrip from Brandon Printing Company on Wednesday March 8, 1933 and stared issuing it on Friday March 10th.

According to Brown's thesis (see Bibliography), the amount authorized was $150,000 and the amount issued $7,342. It was authorized for six months, but saw active circulation a very short time. As of September 4, 1935, the amount outstanding was $21. The scrip is very scarce, I have recorded only 4 notes, 2 $1, 1 $5 and 1 $10 as of 2/17/2015. They are punch canceled. |
